Our Story
For many, we’ve walked the front lines of dog rescue—fostering, fighting, and refusing to give up on animals who needed someone in their corner. At the end of 2025, we turned that passion into a promise and launched 16 Paws Rescue At The Ranch, a 501(c)(3) non-profit based right here in Spokane, Washington.
It didn't start as a plan. It started as a favor—watching a friend's puppy for a few days. That "favor" turned into years of nonstop fostering. After a short break, we built an indoor/outdoor kennel on the ranch, and fostering began again, this time with a higher standard of care than we'd ever been able to offer before.
But it still didn't feel like enough. We became a foster coordinator for a rescue organization, saving dogs, matching them with fosters, arranging transport and flights, and making sure every foster home had what it needed. Over time, that role grew into something bigger: handling intakes for new litters, vaccinating and microchipping, coordinating spay and neuter appointments, keeping vaccine records, screening applications, and setting up meet-and-greets.
Somewhere in all of that, it became clear—we needed to be involved in every part of the process, for the animals and for my own peace of mind.
So we made the decision to follow through on a dream I'd carried for years: start my own rescue. I am beyond excited, and just as nervous, for this next chapter.
Along the way, we've met some of the most caring, selfless people I could ever hope to know—people who show up for animals with no expectation of anything in return. Our hope is to carry that same love and compassion into everything we do here, making sure every litter, every dog, and every life we save is set up for a lifetime of happiness.
Second chances are starting at the Ranch.
